CLUB OVERVIEW

Haig Point (the “Club”) is a private, memberowned club and coastal community located on Daufuskie Island in the heart of South Carolinas Lowcountry, just across the water from Hilton Head Island. Accessible exclusively by boat, the Club operates within a distinctive, bridgeless island setting that shapes both the member experience and the organizations daytoday operations. A dedicated mainland embarkation center and ferry system connects members, staff, and guests to the island, creating a selfcontained environment defined by privacy and a strong sense of community.

POSITION SUMMARY

The CFO at the Club is the senior financial executive and is responsible for the overall financial management, strategy, and integrity of the Club. The CFO serves as a key advisor to the General Manager/COO and the Board of Directors, providing disciplined financial leadership aligned with the Club’s mission, fiduciary obligations, and long-term sustainability.

This position requires demonstrated experience in a strategic financial leadership role with an ability to motivate high-performing teams and a passion for continuous learning. The CFO oversees all financial operations, ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations, supports capital planning, and provides clear, accurate, and timely financial reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Leadership & Strategic Planning
  • Serve as the principal financial strategist for the Club, providing financial guidance and analysis to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Develop and oversee long-range financial planning, including operating forecasts, capital budgets, and capital improvement planning, including capital funding options.
  • Evaluate and advise on dues structures, assessments, initiation fees, and member billing practices.
  • Ensure financial decisions support both fiscal responsibility and the member experience consistent with a private club environment.
  • Prepare management reports and dashboards to assist management and the Board of Directors in assessing operating performance on a real-time basis.
Accounting & Financial Operations
  • Oversee all daily accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, month-end and year-end closing.
  • Ensure timely preparation of accurate monthly financial statements and management reports.
  • Direct the annual budgeting process and ongoing variance analysis across all departments, including golf, food and beverage, racquets, aquatics, fitness, and clubhouse operations.
  • Establish, maintain, and monitor internal controls to safeguard Club assets and financial integrity.
  • Oversee information technology systems related to finance and club management software, ensuring data security and operational efficiency.
Board, Governance & Compliance
  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the Board of Directors, Finance Committee, and other standing committees as assigned.
  • Prepare and present financial reports in a clear, transparent, and understandable format.
  • Ensure compliance with Club bylaws, policies, fiduciary standards, and governance best practices.
  • Maintain awareness of, and compliance with, all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Cash Flow, Banking & Risk Management
  • Manage cash flow, liquidity, investments, and banking relationships.
  • Oversee insurance programs and enterprise risk management activities.
  • Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and all required regulatory and governmental financial reporting.
  • Act as primary liaison with external auditors, tax professionals, and financial advisors.
Capital Projects & Facilities Finance
  • Maintain accurate records of fixed and leased assets, depreciation schedules, and capital projects.
  • Provide financial oversight for all capital projects, including budgeting, financing, progress monitoring, and post-completion financial analysis.
  • Collaborate with facilities, golf course, and clubhouse leadership to align capital expenditures with long-term asset stewardship and reserve funding strategies.
Leadership & Management
  • Lead, supervise, mentor, and evaluate the finance and accounting team.
  • Establish departmental standards for professionalism, accuracy, confidentiality, and service orientation.
  • Partner with department heads to promote financial accountability while supporting operational effectiveness.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years of senior financial leadership experience, with experience in real estate or hospitality considered an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is strongly preferred; candidates without a CPA designation will be considered based on relevant experience and qualifications.
  • Understanding of not-for-profit and/or club governance and accounting practices is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with Boards of Directors and committees.

Physical and Work Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to attend meetings and presentations, including Board of Directors and committee meetings, which may occur outside regular business hours.
